CHCLC works to meet the growing legal needs of our community.
The community legal sector is currently facing federal funding cuts of 30% and unfortunately no centre is immune. Just prior to the Federal election, we joined the #fundequaljustice campaign sharing our concerns about the funding cuts.
With the reelection of the Turnbull government, the funding cuts have not been reversed and from July 2017, vital services across the sector will be reduced or in some cases cut completely.
In March this year, the Royal Commission into Family Violence launched it's long awaited report into Family Violence in Victoria. CHCLC had made a submission to the Commission in the previous year, outlining our experiences, concerns and recommendations relevant to our work. The findings of the Royal Commission can be found by clicking the link below.
The report identifies 227 recommendations. CHCLC looks forward to working with partnering organisations to improve access to justice and outcomes, particularly for victims of family violence.
